I was recently invited to a 'FLASH' event held in Cleveland, standing for Fashion Leaders Achieving Social Harmony. The group, led by an international runway and print model, a style columnist, and a current runway director reassures us that Cleveland has a promising future in the fashion industry.

The happy hour social network drew in local business leaders, fashion retailers, models, photographers, and students all in optimistic spirit to build collaborative relationships and investments with each other. Music was worth listening to and healthy hors d'oeuvre were served throughout the evening. Although it wasn't necessary to draw attention, hourly prizes were generously given away. FLASH is about taking the style Cleveland has already acquired and twisting it, creating new ventures.

I left very optimistic that these monthly events will dial up the enthusiasm and aspirations of the Cleveland fashion community. Hopefully, FLASH will catapult to larger developments in the months to come.

The next FLASH event will be held Friday, June 5th, 2009 at Waterstreet Grill from 6 pm - 11 pm, also featuring a rising Cleveland DJ.
